IDIEM, Cochabamba, Bolivia

Here are a few pictures of the institute, they are no good and I will take better ones in the future. The first is out the window of my classroom, and the second is from a garden where I can study.

There are mountains in the background, you just can´t see them well through the trees inside the institute.

I am so glad to see where you are! We got home last night - Dad is runnning a fever today. It was exhausting, but thrilling. Just to let you know that Aunt Verna died yesterday I just heard ( she was my birthmother's sister). Dad is home with Grandma with a wheechair - I don't know if he will heal or not. I wish they'd move.
That's all the pressing news of the moment. Write me sometime and tell me all about things, honey. I miss you so much, I really do. And love you to pieces! Mom

Hi Erik - Dad here. I have been sick in bed since Thursday night. Fever, chills, aches - this is rotten!
Mom and I came into the studio today (I forced myself) to get a start on catch-up from 2 weeks 'off' - although it sure doesn't feel like we were 'off.'
I pray that you will stay healthy and feel stong during your trip and come home safe. Glad to hear you have an 'interesting' family. How's the food! Wish I could have gone with you just to taste the native cuisine!
By the way, I have lost almost 10 pounds and have sworn to start eating lighter everyday - plus start working out to build muscle mass. Your mom and I have sworn off meat too (really!) If you would have seen the disgusting pieces of meat they served on tour (kids don't matter - right?) anyone would have been sick.
We ate lots of fried veal (snitchel) and dark chicken - although I've never seen such disgusting dark, stringy meat - I think it was crow.
Anyway - sorry about that. I will try and find Frederick Wisemans "Meat" DVD this summer.
When you come home, perhaps we should commit our lives to eco-terror. Our government has left big business to look after our best interests and they haven't...they have lied to us, poisoned us and oppressed the world. Perhaps we should do spontaneous 'events' in parking lots of malls and stuff - like Peta - only bigger and better.
This is why the French look on us with such disdain - their Marxist philosphy has always stated that capitalists are not free - Americans are just too stupid to realize it. I hope you remember what I told you about McDonalds when you were just a toddler.....
Sorry for the rant.
Mom and I have to go home and do laundry.
Hope you are having a great time. Enjoy and learn and we will see you soon.
love, Dad

Hi Dude,
What's up? I've been listening to Uncle Tupelo alot lately - they are really good. What's going on down there today? Things are kinda slow at work - I hope it picks up soon. What's for dinner tonight? Are you still planning to go to the salt-flats? Hope to see some pix. I love you - have a great weekend!
